Gantry crane wind load assessment


  • With large gantry cranes having high cantilever beam well above the ground surface the loads due to the wind are subtancial and a possible strong fluctuation of the loading may be dangerous

  • Bluetech performed a study on the ultimate wind loads on alternative concepts for big gantry cranes

  • This was a milestone for the company to extend its fluid interaction analysis references with the wind flow

  • Such big cranes are contracted by shipyards and other marine sector manufacturers to serve production needs
